Fly With A Rare Bird: Networking 101 - Newcastle
Thu. 1 December 2016, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm AEDT
Networking can be intimidating – for those who’ve done it for years but especially for younger people just starting out.
Rare Birds is thrilled to invite you to our first Fly With A Rare Bird: Networking 101 event.
Bring along a young person to this event to show them the ropes and get them comfortable with meeting new people and communicating in the business sense, in a very supportive environment.
Join Rare Birds founder Jo Burston and local Ambassador Nadene Barretto with our panel of experts as they share their tips and tricks of networking before putting your new skills into play in the second part of the evening.
Meg Purser, Managing Director of Purser Corporate Communication: is a highly experienced and effective corporate communication practitioner who has won awards from the Public Relations Institute of Australia and the Society of Business Communicators.
Specialising in issue management, community engagement and positioning programs, Meg is highly regarded for her extensive knowledge, connectivity and understanding audience perception that provides clients with timely and effective strategies and implementation plans.
Michelle Faithfull: Michelle has developed a passion for networking, fundraising, event management and volunteering for local charities such as the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation, Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, Ronald McDonald House, HMRI, CanTeen, Camp Quality and the Starlight Foundation. Her community contribution in the Hunter region over the past eleven years earned her a spot as a finalist in the Newcastle Herald Hunter Hero Awards in 2013 and she was nominated for Australian of the Year in 2016.
Melissa Histon, Founder of The Sista Code: is a woman on a mission to make a real difference to the lives of women. The Sista Code has grown into an online community of 16,000 women from around the globe: a community of women that empowers other women.
In January this year, the charitable arm of The Sista Code was established – a charity called Got Your Back Sista, which helps women who have escaped domestic violence to start their lives again!
Janine Chandler, Manager for Design Centre Hunter: is an experienced Project and Event Manager, working across the not-for-profit and corporate sectors over the past 25 years. Having worked for some of Australia’s most recognised brands including Telstra, Planet Ark and Westpac Rescue Helicopter delivering a range of campaigns and events, her success has been driven by her capacity to connect those around her, building lasting relationships throughout her career.
Combining her passion of travel and charity work, Janine has worked in volunteer programs in Guatemala (Education), Mexico (Animal Care) and most recently Nepal where she joined a team of like-minded Novocastrians in the Kathmandu Valley rebuilding homes for families affected by the devastating earthquakes in April 2015.
