Flower Language Workshop
Sun, June 26, 2016, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM EDT
They talk to us with their colors, shapes, textures, and scents. Poetry charms us with a careful, rhythmic voice. Flowers and verse are companions. When they work together, all of our senses engage.
Flower Language is a workshop designed to inspire and awaken the Romantic in each of us.
Guided by Miko Akasaka and Michelle Seaman, two trained interdisciplinary artists, and two unapologetic Romantics, participants will:
・Learn to assemble and arrange flowers made from paper and wire.
・Write minute poems and haikus to accompany their bouquets.
・Discover the history of how people used flowers to communicate specific messages.
・Uncover and develop personal myths and symbols.
・Walk away with a mixed media, relief sculpture, a treasured piece of art for your wall.
Our cost includes all the necessary tools and materials, however, if you have a favorite pen or pencil, feel free to bring it! We look forward to sharing a lovely afternoon with you and speaking the language of flowers together!
