Event description

Description

Are you completely new to the world of bees, and want to learn?

Ever thought about having a beehive in your garden, or are curious about getting your own hive & keeping honey bees in your backyard?

Does a fresh homegrown honey supply sound appealing?

The Flow Hive Taster workshop is a brief presentation delivered in The Farm House, followed by a hands-on experience in the Farm Apiary.

This 90 minute workshop will introduce you to the world of bees & what it takes to have your very own hive in the backyard.

Topics covered

  • Bee life cycles & behavior

  • Where to situate your colony

  • What’s inside the hive

  • Pests & Diseases

  • Parts of a beehive

  • How to source bees

  • Flow hives

  • Difference between traditional harvesting and the harvesting with the Flow Hive

Get yourself suited up in the supplied protective gear and enjoy a close-up experience as we open and inspect a working honey bee colony, take part in a Flow honey harvest, and enjoy a taste of some fresh honey extracted straight from the hive.

Please note: this is a beginner's workshop, and isn't suitable for established beekeepers.
