Spend a relaxed hour learning how to recreate and regenerate textiles using Japanese methods in this interactive online workshop open to all

About this Event

Join Eden Valley Artistic Network (EVAN) online and spend a relaxed hour with Maggi Toner-Edgar (Fashion Designer/Maker/Stylist) learning how to recreate and regenerate textiles through the Japanese method of patchwork layering and shashiko hand- stitching.

In order to fully enjoy the workshop the equipment you will need to have to hand is:

  • Small scraps of thin linen, silk or cotton fabric cut or torn into squares and rectangles roughly between 3” and 5” wide.
  • A large scrap of cotton backcloth approx A4-A3 in size
  • A reel of thickish white/cream cotton thread - OR embroidery threads any colour and a large eyed needle with a sharp point. Embroidery needles are good, any will do for now.
  • Dressmaking pins
  • A thimble if you own one.
  • Scissors

EVAN was established to encourage everyone from grassroots artists to professionals to follow their creative dream. This workshop is part of Flourish: EVAN's creative development programme.
