Knowledge is power. In this class, you will learn how to connect with consumers and develop communication skills necessary to attract customers to your store. Aside from the interpretive designing you will be doing, you will also be learning how to develop community relations, photograph your designs to create appeal and interest, and how to use social media and other marketing techniques to bring in a variety of clientele. You will learn how to sell your designs in person, in phone conversations and with social media. Instructors will teach you how to use words to create an image for the customer.
In addition to learning how to create master designs, you will be given the tools on how to create a portfolio of your designs. Instructors will guide you through the basics of creating both online and hard copies to showcase and sell your designs. Your portfolio will be a unique interpretation of what customers are looking for. Developing a signature design style as well as networking with other floral designers will help you to create a successful business.
Participation in a design competition is required for this course, and you will learn the finer points of competing including interpreting the themes and rules, the steps to creating a winning design, evaluation criteria, what the judges look for, proper pricing, and more. As a student, you will leave the class having the skills and knowledge to define your style and stand out from the competition. Explore, define, and imagine!
