About this event

Please join us for a virtual information session. You will learn more about The Florida Guardian ad Litem Office, your role as a volunteer, and how to become a volunteer. The Florida Guardian ad Litem Office represents Florida's abused, abandoned, and neglected children in the court and community. Through the collaboration of a multidisciplinary team that includes an attorney, a trained volunteer, and a certified child advocate manager, our team provides quality legal representation for children's best interests while assisting the child in expressing their needs and wishes. Our unique approach allows us to support the whole child, addressing their physical, educational, mental, emotional, social, and legal needs.

By volunteering with Florida Guardian ad Litem, you support the children and families we serve, helping children who end up in the dependency court system through no fault of their own. Our volunteers dedicate their time, passion, and skills, often becoming the child's role model, mentor, educational surrogate, friend, confidant, and most importantly, a consistent, caring person the child can rely on.

We have adapted our onboarding and application process to comply with COVID social distancing guidelines. Phase One and Phase Two training is currently online and court is held virtually via Zoom. We conduct in-person visits with the children.

It only takes two to three hours per week to volunteer with us. The time commitment hours are flexible since you can adapt the time you dedicate to the case to your availability. However, it is a long-term commitment. We ask our volunteers to stay on the case until it closes, sometimes twelve to eighteen months.

Eventbrite will email you the Zoom link once you have registered for a session.
