Florentine Off Stage: The Barber of Seville
Fri, April 21, 2017, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM CDT
A Hair-Raising Event at Robert Laurence Salon
The Florentine Opera is partnering with Robert Laurence Salon to promote The Barber of Seville, and to help Children with Hair Loss.
Enjoy a glass of wine, listen to fantastic music, and donate your hair for a good cause.
Whether you're a seasoned opera fan or this is your first opera, Off Stage is a perfect way to experience live music, fantastic food and great company in a relaxed environment—while giving back.
Professional hair stylists will be on hand for anyone willing to donate their hair (8 inches or more) to the charity Children with Hair Loss. For the gentlemen, stylists will offer beard and mustache trims for $15 (additional cost). All proceeds from the beard and mustache trims will go to the Florentine Opera.
You don’t need to get a trim to attend the event. Enjoy appetizers, mingle with the cast, learn more about the Florentine's production of The Barber of Seville, and join us in a casual Q&A with our Figaro, Luis Alejandro Orozco.
The Florentine Opera Studio Artists will perform some of our favorite numbers from the Barber of Seville.
Appetizers and beverages (wine, beer, soda) included.
FAQ for Hair Donation
How long must my hair be in order to donate?
A person must have at least 8 inches of hair to donate. It's preferred to not have color treated hair, but any hair in "good condition" will be accepted.
If I'm donating my hair, how should I do my hair the day of the event?
Everyone donating hair must have clean, dry hair for the cut. No washing will be done, to cut down on space used and the noise of the blow dryers.
What organization benefits from the hair donation?
What happens to the hair after it's cut?
Hair will be put into ziplock bags with the person's name on it, and the form will be put in the corresponding bag. The bags of hair will be put into a large box, which the Florentine will send out to the charity after the event.
Will my hair also be styled after it's cut?
Each participant will receive a 20% coupon for their next service at Robert Laurence. There will not be enough time at the event for additional styling beyond the haircut.
FAQ for Beard/Facial Trimming
Is there an additional cost for a beard/facial trim?
Men who wish to have their facial hair trimmed pay $15 at the door. The full $15 will be directly donated to the Florentine Opera.
Will there be food and drink at the event?
Appetizers and beverages (wine, beer, soda) are included with the event fee.
