WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
Community activists and leaders, non-profit leaders, teachers, artists, change agents, corporate presenters, professional facilitators, politicians, writers, church leaders, editors, publishers, reporters, or anyone with a good idea who wants to develop it further and share with the world (women only, please)

WHY THIS PROGRAM?
Many women (and men) make tragic errors when presenting: a) they hold back, and never share their big idea or passion with a wider audience; b) they are intimidated by current platforms (like TEDx) and don't bother applying; c) they speak too fast or too softly, so the audience can't connect with their message; d) they don't know how to properly prepare; e) they lack support on the day of the event; f) they give a great presentation but fail to connect with the audience during the Q&A g) they don't record their presentation so they can share it more easily afterward to amplify the message.

At this workshop, we will help you develop your own big ideas to create your own mini "Ted Talk." You'll also learn how to:

**deliver an effective speech or presentation
**manage your voice tone and body language
**handle Q&A effectively
**present effectively and convincingly
**prepare properly to build your confidence
**develop storytelling techniques
**develop your own style and your own voice (not copying others—including men)
**stand in the right place to help your audience connect with you
**read from a script while still making eye contact with your audience
**follow up to maximize your message getting out there

You'll also:
**refine the written materials that will support your work
**learn how to craft an opinion piece for the newspaper or write an effective letter to the editor
**be better able to present your ideas professionally on paper and in person at a community gathering

PRESENTERS
At the Intensive, you'll not only hear from facilitators Jennifer Wolfe and Elizabeth Reed, but also learn from master storyteller, TEDx Coach, and cultural icon Barbara Colaciello, as well as Hope McMath, artist, activist, and community change agent. And, during our follow-on coaching, you’ll get feedback from TEDx Organizer and Executive Producer Sabeen Perwaiz Syed as she listens to your presentations.

  • Elizabeth Reed is a professional speaker, KonMari consultant, and speaking coach. Her passion is to empower women to raise their voices. Elizabeth believes that every woman has a powerful message that can change the world. Through six years of active Toastmasters experience, including giving dozens and speeches and speech evaluations, Elizabeth has developed her own style of coaching speakers. She uses activities and games to help each woman claim her stage and share her unique message in a way that inspires the hearts and minds of audiences.

She connects the arts to community needs including education, accessibility, the environment, wellness, and inclusion and diversity. As a guest presenter in this program, she will share how she has learned to raise her voice here in Jacksonville and beyond.

In addition, she is on the board of UNF’s School of Engineering and the Atlantic Institute of Jacksonville. She is also a member of Jacksonville Women’s Network, Women’s Giving Alliance and a mentor with City Year.
