Flight RJD was scheduled exclusively for this AFA performance. We've known each other throughout our musical journeys, but this concert is our first time exploring music together as a group. Joe and Daniel are virtuosos of creating music through their instruments, and the spirit of our creativity will illuminate during this special evening. - Reggie Nicholson
Continuing in the tradition of drummer bandleaders such as Max Roach, Art Blakey, Tony Williams, Jack DeJohnette, and Paul Motian, Reggie Nicholson has firmly established his reputation in this great tradition. Since relocating to New York City from Chicago in 1988, Nicholson has performed and recorded with a wide variety of new music luminaries such as Henry Threadgill, Amina Claudine Myers, Muhal Richard Abrams, Charles Gayle, Myra Melford, Anthony Braxton, Wilber Morris, Yuko Fujiyama, Roy Campbell, Butch Morris, just to name a few.
In May 2020, Arts for Art introduced the On_Line Salon series to provide performance opportunities for our artists who lost all in-person gigs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, we've presented over 45 performances featuring 100 artists. Performances stream every Tuesday and Thursday. See the full schedule at https://www.artsforart.org/onlinesalon.
