See below for the story of #FLEXONCANCER & how one man's fight against cancer has inspired and encouraged others.
Cancer is a word no one likes to hear. It is a word that most everyone has been affected by either directly or indirectly. My good friend Brett Wulke, at the age of 31, was recently diagnosed with cancer which had already spread by the time he was diagnosed. He quickly underwent a surgery to remove the tumor, and shortly after that began the long road of chemo treatments. He is in the middle of enduring a minimum of 3 rounds with each round being 3 weeks long, and then could possible face another surgery.
Aside from the many side effects of chemo, Brett would learn that one drug in particular would cause him to lose lung function which to him was devastating news. Brett is an avid runner and constantly in the gym. He and his wife live a healthy, active lifestyle, and run many half marathons including the Dallas half 2 weeks after learning he had cancer. He unfortunately wasn't able to run, and hearing this news and the news that working out and running would be impossible during the process was hard to swallow. You see Brett began running a few years ago in honor of his mother who was also fighting the battle against cancer. Running and living healthy is part of who Brett is.
Shortly after being diagnosed Bretts good friend, Jared, came up with an idea to #FLEXONCANCER until the end of Brett's treatments. #FLEXONCANCER became Brett's fight and theme throughout this process. It's been a way others can show support by flexing and posting pictures!
Money received from #FLEXONCANCER workout will go directly to Brett and his wife to help with medical expenses as well as to show Brett our support in his fight.
