Description

You're invited to join us for our next Flank 5 Academy Brown Bag Book Chat

featuring

Tribe: On Homecoming and Belonging

by Sebastian Junger

Through the lens of the veteran experience - and absolutely relevant to our communities in general and the career conversation at large - this book focuses on ancient tribal human behaviors - loyalty, inter-reliance, cooperation - that flare up in communities during times of turmoil and suffering (in our world - job loss, not working in meaningful ways, and career transition). Drawing from history, psychology, and anthropology, Junger shows us just how at odds the structure of modern society is with our tribal instincts, arguing that the difficulties many veterans face upon returning home from war do not stem entirely from the trauma they’ve suffered, but also from the individualist societies they must reintegrate into.

We will be exploring this book within the Collective in August and want to bring the larger Flank 5 Academy family into the fold.

On August 29, we'll meet for a casual and connected one hour chat. We invite you to read a little of the book, the whole book, the beginning and end of the book, then come with ideas, questions and inspiration. . .

. . . and get ready to meet other folks pursuing that inching toward (authentic) happiness. See you soon!
