Description
Overview:
Join us for an evening field day on May 26th at Island Grove Ag Products south of Hawthorne, FL providing an overview of integrated crop pollination for blueberries (www.projecticp.org). Topics will include the major pollinators of Florida blueberries, bee ecology and resource needs, minimizing pesticide risks to pollinators, how to successfully establish wildflower habitat for pollinators, and how to manage commercial bumblebees for crop pollination. The field day will include a tour of a blueberry farm with an established wildflower planting for pollinators.

Speakers include Josh Campbell, Postdoctoral Scholar, Department of Entomology and Nematology, University of Florida. Emily May, Pollinator Conservation Specialist, The Xerces Society of Invertebrate Conservation. Mary Bammer, Research Technician, Department of Entomology and Nematology, University of Florida.
2 CCA credits will be provided.
Directions to the field day:
From the north: Drive 6.5 miles south of Hawthorne on Rt 301. Turn left on SE 177th Ave and drive 1.8 miles.
At the T-stop, turn right on SE 225th Dr. After 1200 yards, take a sharp left on SE 189th Ave. Turn right at the T-intersection onto SE 243rd St. Follow signs for the field day.
From the south: Drive 6.2 miles north of Citra on Rt 301. Turn right on SE 177th Ave (just after the sign for Lochloosa) and drive 1.8 miles. At the T-stop, turn right on SE 225th Dr. After 1200 yards, take a sharp left on SE 189th Ave. Turn right at the T-intersection onto SE 243rd St. Follow signs for the field day.
