The Food Industry and the SDG Challenge

Workshop on the launch of the report


The event organized in cooperation with Rappresentanza Permanente d'Italia ONU - New York,  will be held on September 24, 2019 from 4.00 to 6.00 p.m. in New York, on the occasion of the Opening Session of the 74th General Assembly of the United Nations. 
 


This year, the SDG Summit under the auspices of the General Assembly will assess the progress made so far in the adoption of Agenda 2030, providing guidance and guidelines to accelerate the implementation of the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. 


 
In this context, the Barilla Center for Food and Nutrition Foundation (BCFN) the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment (CCSI) and the Santa Chiara Lab – University of Siena (SCL), are joining forces to accelerate progress towards the sustainable development of the agro-food sector.

A report on sustainable business practices in the food sector will be launched at this event, showcasing best practices and recommendations in four areas:


  • Promoting and developing healthy diets
  • Identifying sustainable ways to produce food 
  • Developing sustainable food value chains
  • Being a good corporate citizen


We are convening institutional representative, experts, academics, entrepreneurs and opinion leaders will discuss in order to raise awareness on main challenges, opportunities and responsibilities for the food sector and identify effective sustainability pathways towards the achievement of the 2030 Agenda.
