Join us for Fixing Fridays, where we show you how to repair and take back control!

These free workshops are at Dalston CLR James Library at 6pm on the second Friday each month. Some dates are fully-booked already, but you can join the waitlist in case of cancellations.

October 13th: Introduction to repairing
November 10th: Basic fault-finding
December 8th: Home and kitchen appliances
January 12th: Computer hardware
February 9th: Computer software
March 9th: Rosie the Restarter skill share

Please note the 9th March Rosie the Restarter skill share is for women and non-binary only and led by women.

There will be opportunities for participants to join our team of volunteer fixers at our regular Restart Party events where we support members of the public to help fix their electrical and electronic appliances.

FAQs

The event is fully booked, is there a waitlist?

To join the waitlist select a date, click on Register, then click Join Waitlist. If the Register button is not visible after you select a date the waitlist is also full.

I am on the waitlist, should I turn up for the event?

No, we will let you know if places become available. If you just turn up and the event is full we won't be able to accommodate you as we have a limited number of places.

I can no longer make the date I have booked, what should I do?

Let us know that you can't make it by cancelling your booking or by email to tickets@hackneyfixers.org.uk. That way we can make the place available to someone on the waitlist. If you don't let us know then a place could be left empty, and we may cancel your future bookings.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

The minimum age is 18

What are my transport options for getting to and from the event?

Close to Dalston Junction and Dalston Kingsland Overground stations

Can I update my registration information

Yes

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Registration is not transferable, please cancel and re-register if someone else wishes to attend in your place.

Can I bring home and kitchen appliances to the December session?

Yes, we can't guarantee to fix them, but we will aim to work on them in the practical session.

Can I bring my computer to the computer sessions in January and February?

Yes, you are welcome to bring your computer or laptop to the January and February sessions: we can't guarantee to fix them, but we will aim to work on them in the practical session. In the February session (computer software) we will be focussing on Windows computers. Please note printers are not included in the computer sessions.

Is there Wi-Fi access at the library?

Yes, please bring your LBH Library card with you to access Wi-Fi.

Will there be opportunities to volunteer as a fixer at Hackney Fixers Restart Parties?

Yes, please ask your host at the workshop.
