FIWARE Mobility DAY
Event Information
About this event
This third edition of the FIWARE Mobility DAY, makes DAY 3 of the Future Mobility Conference on MaaS, organised in collaboration with the FIWARE Smart Cities Mission Support Commitee and the Smart MaaS consortium. The event takes place on 25 March 2021, from 10:00-17:00 (CET).
According to the United Nations, by 2050, more than two-thirds of the world's population will live in cities. Cities are vibrant economic, cultural and political hubs, but they consume huge amounts of the planet's resources. Urban areas currently produce more than 70% of greenhouse gas emissions. As the main contributor, the transport sector has both the burden and the opportunity to shape the future of urban mobility.
Managing this urban sprawl effectively is a global priority. Improving mobility is a must. Many cities currently lack the necessary infrastructure to meet the mobility and travel needs of their citizens. The intelligent transport systems (ITS) of the future will need to be less emissive and energy intensive and much more efficient. All sectors, from cars and buses to rail - and even fully new vehicle concepts are in the pipeline - are moving towards greater sustainability.
A Smart City is usually characterised by intelligent traffic planning, enhanced local transport and the ideal interconnection of all road users. How can we achieve this efficiency?
Integrating new mobility models with existing ones will require public-private partnerships, continuous innovation and action plans for low-emission, accessible, efficient and resilient infrastructures that serve every citizen. How can we achieve these ambitious objectives?
This FIWARE Mobility DAY will reveal what are the needs of the cities today in terms of sustainable mobility and why we need to act - NOW!
