About this event
"In 1932, as famine rages across Ukraine, the Soviet government calls for the harshest punishment for those who keep for themselves even five stalks of grain. When their mother is accused of hoarding and summarily killed, Nadia and Taras must leave their home on a desperate quest for survival..."
Join illustrator, Ivanka Galadza, writer Adrian Lysenko, and frequent Ottawa Writer's Festival moderator, Peter Schneider, for an evening of discussion about the graphic novel, Five Stalks of Grain, published by the University of Calgary Press.
A portion of ticket sales will be donated in support of the Humanitarian Appeal of the Canada-Ukraine Foundation.
Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing from the launch bookseller, Perfect Books on-site.
A big thank you to Cardus for hosting this event.
