Five Oaths LRP - A Season of Sorcery (Event 2 2025)

It is a Season of Sorcery.

Centuries ago, the Saoi of Draiod defeated a group of powerful Undead, trapping them away in prisons across the realms, sealed behind doors of stone, immortal guardians, and grave warnings. It is the nature of buried things to be unearthed, however, and curious mortals have now released two of them into the modern world.

On the back of their quiet success thwarting Mallacht Ua Finian, Cumhacht na Réig have now been hired by Rafferty Stoneheart, the rider of Shepards Stand, to prevent another of these creatures from gathering power of a more arcane nature.

As the band makes camp in Draioid Above on the 87th of Autumn 803 TR, they will do battle with a Sorcerer the likes of which the world has not seen for centuries

Five Oaths is a Live-Action Roleplaying game. This means it is a collaborative storytelling and adventure game in which the players portray their characters and interact with the game world presented by the Event Team. Unlike tabletop roleplaying games, players portray their character at Five Oaths events by putting on a costume and doing and saying whatever their character does or says.

The world of Five Oaths takes inspiration from mediaeval Ireland, though no knowledge of this period is required to enjoy the game. All player characters in the game live in the Five Realms of Tirneach (teer-nock) and are members of an elite class of warriors known as the Gallóglaigh (gah-lowglee).

The Gallóglaigh swear Five Oaths to serve their god, their ruler, their nation, each other and themselves. From then on they are specially empowered mercenaries, wandering the Five Realms looking to make a name for themselves, and earn some money along the way. In the game, you will be both the audience and author of your character’s story and the stories of the characters around you.

Player characters are called to solve all manner of problems across Tirneach; one day acting as investigators and judges, another as negotiators or intermediaries, and when all else fails: as a raised shield and a strong sword-arm. Combat makes up a significant portion of the adventure aspect of the game as Player Characters face off against menacing ne’er-do-wells and dangerous monsters of all sorts. Combat in Five Oaths is resolved with the use of (carefully safety-checked) foam and latex replicas of swords, axes, and other assorted weaponry. Outside of combat the Gallóglaigh need healers, ritualists, crafters, merchants, and scholars among their number to keep the band on the road and ready to earn coin and glory.

Players may choose to camp in the in-character area as well as the out-of-character area- This includes sleeping tents, group tents and other places to gather. If you wish to camp in-character, please fill out this form by 23:59 on Friday the 15th of August, so we know to include you in our camp layout.
