Event description

Description

Artisanal Fishermen of Ghana will sign a historic pledge to take care of their OCEAN. Fishermen have initiated a Fisherman 2 Fisherman dialogue (F2F) to stop free for all (open access) and illegal fishing and assure a clean and healthy OCEAN for Ghana's future.

Fishermen will celebrate the WORLD's OCEAN DAY on June 6th, 2017 to show their commitment and serious willingness to walk the line by themselves and without being told by higher authority. The OCEAN of Ghana belongs to Ghanaians and is there for them to draw food and revenues for their communities. Ghana is now importing fish to satisfy the local demand but through responsible fishing and proper management, Ghana can rebuild its depleted fish stocks and satisfy its national demand for fish. Fishermen embarked on the road to end foreign joint-ventures involved in Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated fishing (IUU).

Please join us to celebrate the WORLD OCEAN DAY 2017 in Ghana.
