OPAF will host a First Swim Training and Clinic on Saturday, April 21 at the Marion Diehl Recreation Center in Charlotte.
First Swim will offer clinical education for therapists, swimmers and swim coaches on how best to serve those with physical or mobility challenges and bring them back to the pool. Core, strength, buoyancy and techniques will all be part of the classroom education, led by Chris Doerger, PT, CP. FIRST SWIM IS NOW APPROVED FOR 4 HOURS OF CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR PHYSICAL THERAPISTS AND PTAs
Classroom education will be followed with a Train the Trainer pool session with participants facing physical or mobility challenges.
The First Swim Clinic will be led by two time World Champion Triathlete, Mabio Costa, a below the knee amputee. Mabio will be assisted by members of the Queens University Swim Team.
Clinical Education begins at 11 am and First Swim Clinic begins at 1:30 with participants

The course is offered AT NO CHARGE, but we do need everyone to register so that we are prepared.
