Friday May 13th
8AM Doors Open for practice and check in. Practice ends at 8:45am for announcements.
9AM Tournament starts
$20 Tournament Fee - 100% gets paid out as prize money for top 8
Tournament will use all 45+ Pinball Machines at the Delaware Pinball Collective. We will try our best to alternate the era of games played on. One round will be LCD/DMD games and the next round will be Classics/EM games. The matchplay software will pick the games played and will match the players up in groups.
This is a Group Match Play Tournament with Swiss seeding and 4 players (3 if necessary) in each group. Scoring is based on player performance for that one machine (3/2/1/0) or (3/1.5/0). This will be added to a running total for the tournament. The first player to reach 30 points is declared the winner and the tournament is over. If multiple players reach the target score on the same round the player with the higher total is the winner. If they are tied a randomly drawn game will be selected for the tiebreaker. Only ties between 1st place will be broken with a 1 game tie breaker for the affected players. No playoffs or finals for this event. Automatic Tiebreakers (if available in Match Play Software) will be turned on and will supersede any tie other than a tie for 1st place. A tie for first place will result in a 1 game playoff.
Top 4 will receive Trophies/Plaques, Top 8 will receive Cash Prizes

Event 3: The Delaware Pinball Open - Main Event Qualifying
Saturday May 14th
Certified IFPA tournament with 120% TGP (assuming minimum 64 rated players in qualifying)
8AM Doors Open Practice. Practice ends at 8:45am for announcements
9AM Tournament Starts
$65 Tournament Fee 100% gets paid out as prize money to top 16 after finals on Sunday
Tournament will use all 45+ Pinball Machines at the Delaware Pinball Collective. We will try our best to alternate the era of games played on. One round will be LCD/DMD games and the next round will be Classics/EM games. The matchplay software will pick the games played and will match the players up in groups.
This is a Group Match Play Qualifying tournament with Random Pairings to start and Tiered Swiss thereafter. We will play exactly 12 rounds using 7/5/3/1 scoring. After 12 rounds the Top 24 Players make the Main Playoffs on Sunday. We will not have ‘B’ playoffs, you either make the playoffs or you don’t. Everyone will be seeded 1-24. Automatic Tie Breakers will be turned on. The exception to Automatic Tiebreakers will be for 8th and 24th positions. Those positions will have a 1 game playoff drawn at random by the tournament director immediately at the conclusion of qualifying. This will be done so all players know who is in the finals, who has choice of banks, and who they are playing in the 1st round. Top 8 players receive a 1st round bye in playoffs. Playoffs will be Groups of 4 players. 4 Rounds Total using modified PAPA format on 3 Game Banks with 4/2/1/0 scoring. Top 2 advance Bottom 2 Eliminated. Final position 1st-24th will be determined solely by your play in the playoffs. No points carry over from qualifying.
DPO Main Event Finals (Held on Sunday, May 15th)
I changed the finals format slightly to reseed the groupings based on original qualifying as we go from round to round as opposed to a strict bracket format that I originally had written. Plus the finishing position of the eliminated players will now be based on how many points they accumulated in the round in which they were eliminated as opposed to having everyone tied on the round they were eliminated. These changes are more in line with traditional pinball finals at other major tournaments.
Sunday May 15th
8AM Doors Open for Practice and check in. Practice ends at 8:45am for announcements
9AM Finals Start
Once the finals start there is no practicing allowed on the machines that are in the finals.
Top 24 Players from the Main Event Qualifying will play in the Finals. If someone doesn’t show up the 25th person from qualifying will take their place. The format will consist of 4 rounds of 3 game banks. Top 8 qualifiers will get a 1st round bye. Groupings for first round will be (9th, 16th, 17th, 24th), (10th, 15th, 18th, 23rd), (11th, 14th, 19th, 22nd), (12th, 13th, 20th, 21st) Games will be played one at a time. High seed in each group will get choice of Bank and Order on 1st game. Subsequent games the order choice is reversed with 4th place getting to pick first, then 3rd place next, etc. The games that are in the banks will be chosen by the tournament director before the start of the tournament and won’t be revealed to the players until the morning of the playoffs. Scoring will be 4/2/1/0 for each of the 3 games. Top 2 advance and the bottom 2 are eliminated. Should there be a tie for 2nd/3rd place a 1 game playoff will be played by the 2 affected players. That game is pre-selected on the Bank Sheet as the Alternative Game or another game will be chosen at random by the TD if needed.
The 8 Eliminated players from the 1st round will be ranked 17th-24th according to how many points they accumulated in this round. Ties will not be broken.
In the Quarterfinal Round, the players advancing from the previous round will be reseeded according to their original ranks and divided into four groups as follows.
16 Players
Group 1: 1 8 9 16
Group 2: 2 7 10 15
Group 3: 3 6 11 14
Group 4: 4 5 12 13
The 8 eliminated players will be ranked 9th-16th according to the accumulated points in this round. Ties will not be broken.
For the Semifinal Round, the 8 players advancing will be divided into two groups of four. The groups will be organized according to the original qualifying rank as shown here:
8 Players
Group 1: 1 4 5 8
Group 2: 2 3 6 7
The 4 eliminated players from this round will be ranked from 5th-8th based on the accumulated points from this round. Ties will not be broken.
The four remaining players advance to the final round. The final round is conducted in the same manner as the Semifinal Round. The total scores for this round will determine the order of the winners.
