Event description
Calling all rebels! We are building a movement on stolen land, so let's continue educating ourselves on how to be culturally competent!

About this Event

This workshop aims to develop understanding and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, their history and culture, explore cultural difference and implicit bias, and empower culturally appropriate policy and practice. We will commence with an introduction, background and context, followed by an historical and contemporary overview of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, then an exploration of cultural difference and implicit bias, concluding with approaches to culturally appropriate interaction and communication. The format will include presentations, interactive exercises in small groups, and facilitated general discussion.

There will be breaks throughout the day including one for lunch, so please bring something to eat or to share, or there are places you can buy lunch nearby.

There is limited capacity for the workshop, so make sure to register!

We ask for a $10 donation for the event which we will put towards 'paying the rent'* and give to the Djapwurrung Embassy in their campaign to protect country out near Ararat.

If you cannot pay, please email XRVicClimateJustice@protonmail.com and we can give you a free ticket.

This workshop is organised by the Climate Justice Working Group and facilitated by Yin Paradies.
