More than 100 local children on 16 teams go head to head, putting 12-14 weeks of research, design, and programming to the test in a FIRST LEGO League Qualifying Tournament to win honors and recognition. The FIRST LEGO League Qualifying Tournament is open to the public and free for spectators. Spectators will see teams competing in the FIRST LEGO League robot game—the robots they've built and programmed have 2.5 minutes to score as many points as possible on a playing field made of LEGO elements.

Rhode Island Students of the Future, FLL RI Operational Partner
Rhode Island Students of the Future (RISF) is a nonprofit organization that engages students in STEAM learning through youth robotics, innovation and teamwork.
RISF is the Operational Partner for FIRST® LEGO® League and Jr. FIRST LEGO League in Rhode Island. RISF, in partnership with the Humanity Centered Robotics Initiative at Brown University, also organizes the Robot Block Party, a celebration of National Robotics Week. Over 750 students participate in FLL, Jr. FLL and the Robot Block Party in Rhode Island annually.
RISF offers training events for FLL coaches and instructional workshops for teachers.
