Description

Our speaker in April will be Dr. Eddy Shigley.. He has spoken all over the world sharing his leadership journey.

Shigley is an Associate Professor in the School of Theology and Ministry and the Director of the Kern Ministry Program at Indiana Wesleyan University. Eddy has been involved in a variety of ministry positions for 32 years as youth pastor, college pastor, camp director, college professor, speaker, and V.P. for Student Life. While the Vice President of Student Life at Oklahoma Wesleyan University, Eddy was in charge of Intercollegiate Athletics. During his tenure, The Athletics Program at OKWU grew from 8 teams to 16 teams, including men’s and women’s tennis.

Shigley graduated summa cum laude from Indiana Wesleyan University with a B.S. in Education. He completed a M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in History from the University of Texas at Tyler. He also earned a Doctorate of Strategic Leadership from Regent University with an emphasis in organizational leadership, consulting, and executive coaching.

Eddy is in his second year as head coach of the Indiana Wesleyan University men’s tennis team in 2018-19. He is also in the fifth year as the head coach for the women’s team.

Shigley led the Wildcats to Crossroads League regular season and tournament championships in 2017-18. The men’s tennis team compiled a 29-12 record which set a program high for wins. The 29 wins put them fifth for all teams across all programs for the 2017-18 tennis season. The men’s tennis team finished the regular season ranked No. 22 and beat four teams ranked in the Top-25. Shigley was named Coach of the Year for the Crossroads League.

Shigley played high school tennis for Indiana Hall of Fame Coach Bill Beekman at Marion High School where they finished third in the state. Eddy played tennis at IWU for legendary coach Terry Porter. During his four years, Eddy was blessed to have played on the best men’s tennis team in the history of IWU. They won the District 21 NAIA title four years in a row and competed in the National Tournament all four years. Eddy received All-District and All-Conference Honors two times each. He was also named to the NAIA Academic All-American Team.

Following graduation at Indiana Wesleyan in 1987, Eddy was the assistant tennis coach to Bill Beekman at Marion High School for three years. The Marion High School boy’s team placed 2nd in the state in 1989 and won the state title the following year in 1990. Eddy has coached numerous competitive baseball and basketball teams through the years.

Eddy is happily married to Esther. They have been married 30 years and God has blessed them with seven children: Trey (25), Nicole (23), Luke and Danielle (21), Noah (20), Moriah (17) and Anna (15). They enjoy teaching and training their children to love Jesus.
