Event description

Description

Inspired by the classic style of music legend Smokey Robinson, whose portrait collection can be viewed here at the Schomburg, this edition of our popular social gathering is turning the clock back to present a sophisticated mix of unforgettable slow jams. "Quiet Storm" was pioneered in the mid-1970s by Melvin Lindsey, while he was an intern at WHUR-FM in Washington DC, and coined after Robinson's 1975 hit single, "A Quiet Storm."

Dhalimu from Dhali's Closet will return as your host for the event, where you can also our signature drinks and groove on our "dance floor" in the Langston Hughes Lobby.
