Event description

Description

The Schomburg Center is proud to present our 3rd annual Holiday "Black Tie Edition” of First Fridays, our popular monthly social gathering. This special event will celebrate the spirit of giving, our 92-year history, and vast archival collections that are accessed across the world. We will also be honoring World AIDS Day, so please wear a touch of RED to commemorate those we have lost to AIDS and those living with HIV/AIDS today. Ring in the holiday season at this lavish cocktail affair that includes hors d’oeurves catered and complimentary glasses of champagne from 6 pm to 7 pm.

Groove the night away with beats by DJ Sylk, and don’t miss the evening’s host, Dhalimu from Dhali's Closet. We’ll also have a special surprise performance.

With our extended hours, Guests are also invited to check out our three exhibitions Black Power, Power in Print, and Unshackled Ink. And don't miss a special performance from a surprise guest!

In addition, we're proud to announce that Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey will power First Fridays. A fitting partnership as First Fridays celebrates culturally relevant occasions through local talent and Jack Daniel's is deeply connected with the community. Your friends at Jack Daniel's remind you to drink responsibly.

Our community partner is Walker International Communications Group (WICG) provides consultation to arts organizations, performing arts, visual arts, dance companies, non-profit groups, Broadway and Off-Broadway productions. They will be onsite giving away some goodies and giving you the Intel on all Broadway Productions.

Sign up for a Schomburg membership, become a Schomburg volunteer, and visit the Schomburg Shop—while networking and dancing the night away!

Suggested dress code is cocktail chic!

Tickets are non-refundable and go toward donations for the Schomburg.
