Description

The Compassion Factory Art Gallery & Studio is proud to present....
"Face to Face", a unique exhibition by Mays Mayhew and Juan Sepulveda that explores the figure in bright colors verses monochromatic.

The reception will be March 6th from 7 to 10 pm and will feature VR and time-lapse video. Virtual reality (VR) videos will show a retrospective of Mayhew's previous work to illuminate the path to her current work. Time-lapse videos, on display at the reception, will show her studio practice.

The show will run March 6th to March 28th at The Compassion Factory, located at 9210 Broadway Ave in Brookfield, IL 60513.

The gallery is always open Thursday: 4-8, Saturday: 10-1, First Fridays 7-10, and by appointment.

Compassion is free and open to the public.

Mayhew said the exhibit shows her newest series which explores matriarchs. “I’m interested in a story that is tangible juxtaposed to the intangible. Sometimes the intangible is a scribble.” Mayhew said. “Using pencil on paper, my approach is as simple as my tools. I like monochromic grayscales. I also really enjoy the silvery characteristic of graphite, the primary medium in my work.”
