Homebrewers Against Hunger
October 5th, 2013
Fairmont Field Club
Have a pint and do what's right! Come out and enjoy a sampling of local, home-brewed beers at Homebrewers Against Hunger, sponsored in part by the Fairmont Field Club, the Fairmont Homebrewers Club, and Chestnut Brew Works. All proceeds go directly to funding local food banks in the Marion County area, particularly Marion County Senior Citizens Inc. (Meals on Wheels). Food will be available on-site for purchase (kielbasa, hotdogs, and pretzels) and live music will also be provided by local artist Gypsy Davy during the event. A wonderful occasion to get out and support a great cause in a festival-like atmosphere while taking in a true taste of the region.
Attendees must be 21 years or older to sample. Admission is $15 for the 3-hour session and includes a sampling cup and 10 beer tickets for 10 four ounce samples. Additional sampling tickets, up to 5, can be purchased for $1 each or by a canned food donation. Designated drivers are admitted free with a canned food donation. Also, any additional canned food donations brought in are extremely appreciated!!

When & Where
Fairmont Field Club, Fairmont Homebrewers Club, Chestnut Brew Works
Built in 1912, The Fairmont Field Club is the site of the founding of the WV Golf Association in 1913. Known for its tight fairways, and undulating greens, the Club’s nine-hole course offers challenges for golfers of every age and skill level. With all of the amenities of a championship course, and a charming Golf Shop… The Field Club offers one of the most unique golf experiences in North Central West Virginia.
The Fairmont Homebrewers Club aka the FHBC.
We are a moderately large, close-knit (but welcoming!) group of local homebrewers who usually meet once a month to discuss anything and everything regarding homemade beer and craft beer in north central West Virginia and occasionally organize group brew days, brewery tours, mini homebrew competitions and other such ventures together. At the FHBC, it's all about good talks, good times, and good beer.
Chestnut Brew Works, LLC is a small beer brewery nestled in the woods of southern Monongalia county, about 10 miles south of Morgantown, WV. We utilize a 1 barrel (1 barrel=31 gallons) system to produce about 200 barrels per year. This level of production is extremely small, even compared to “micro-breweries” such as Tröeg’s or Flying Dog. Our small size allows us to experiment with different ingredients and processes, which highlights the artistic and creative sides of brewing.
