Howard Performing Arts Center
Guests: José Salgado, KV 265 visuals / Lake Michigan Youth Orchestra

Using two thematically-related short pieces by renowned Canadian composer John Estacio, the Diptych depicts the origin and formation of the awe-inspiring light display we call the aurora borealis. This film features NASA’s latest cutting-edge images of the sun, astronaut photography of the auroras as well as the filmmaker’s photography shot on location in Yellowknife, Canada.bThe concert continues the theme with two great nature-inspired works from the Romantic repertory: Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture and Brahms’s sunny Second Symphony.

The program includes:
Hebrides Overture (Fingal's Cave), Mendelssohn
Side by side with LMYO
Aurora Diptych: Solaris and Borealis, John Estacio
Film produced and edited by José Francisco Salgado, PhD
Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Brahms

Tickets: $20 - $37 / Students: $5
