Course Description: This course prepares students who have the primary responsibility for the investigation of fires within a jurisdiction. Fire Investigation requires that the investigator have the knowledge of science, building construction, human behavior, forensics, law, and many other subjects. Fire investigators must also be able to write and speak clearly, perform strenuous physical labor, and organize and analyze large volumes of information. Investigators should also expect to have their findings and professional qualifications vigorously challenged whenever they testify in legal proceedings. Thus, to perform their job, investigators must be appropriately educated and trained, remain up to date with current practices and seek credentials that attest to their knowledge and abilities. This course is designed to meet those requirements
