A two-day multi-disciplinary simulation and cadaveric skills course open to Consultant or final year registrars in Orthopaedics, anaesthetics, Emergency Medicine, as well as ODPs, EAPs and scrub staff.

Day 1 (4th Jan): Orthopaedic Surgeons, ODPs, EAPs, Anaesthetists, Emergency Medicine Drs

Focus on key decision-making skills to manage major poly-trauma patients in the first 24 hours. Predominantly team-based simulation training with lectures on key points, including mass casualty scenarios.

Venue: Simulation suite, University of Salford

Day 2 (5th Jan): Orthopaedic Surgeons, ODPs, EAPs, Anaesthetists, Scrub Staff

Orthopaedic cadaveric skills training based on damage control principles.

Anaesthetic decision-making and practical skills including surgical airway, thoracostomy, thoracotomy, splinting and circulatory access.

Specimens are fresh-frozen cadavers.

Venue: Manchester Surgical Skills and Simulation Centre, University of Manchester

Nurses and AHPs will be immersed in training with the rest of the team. However, our trainers are a diverse range of healthcare professionals and we ensure mentorship is provided by a healthcare professional from the same group.

Emergency Medicine Doctors £200 (attend Day 1 only)

ODPs, EAPs, Scrub Staff – free (must commit to attending course)
