Hundreds of startups are offering faster, easier, and cheaper ways to manage money, and re-imagining every type of financial activity – from banking to payments to wealth management and more – putting conventional financial services players under unprecedented pressure – and also – creating new opportunities for them.

Disruption & collaboration are both the order of the day. Established players and startups are working hand in hand to leverage each other’s strength s and deliver an even better frictionless experiences to end customers.

On Wednesday, November 29th SAP Startup Focus and the Founder Institute are bringing together the best technology experts, startups and thought leaders in the Fintech space to explore challenges and opportunities in the space, how can enterprises and startups collaborate, and the state of the Fintech market.

Jane Disney, Industry Principal & Value Adviser, Financial Services & Insurance, SAP

Jane Disney is Industry Principal and Value Advisor for Financial Services & Insurance at SAP. She has worked in the Financial Services sector for over 25 years and has significant experience across the banking and insurance industries. At SAP, Jane is responsible for strategy development, thought leadership, and executive-level demonstration of the value and innovation of SAP solutions that help drive digital transformation across the financial services sector.

Jenny Tooth

Jenny Tooth, CEO, UK Business Angels Association

Jenny is CEO of the UK Business Angels Association, the trade body for angel and early-stage investing, representing over 18,000 investors around the UK. Jenny has over 20 years’ experience of facilitating SMEs’ access to investment, both in the UK and internationally. She ran her own consultancy on access to finance for SMEs, including spending nine years based in Brussels, working closely with the EC. In 2009, Jenny co-founded Angel Capital Group which incorporates London Business Angels, one of the most established and active angel networks in the UK.

Jenny is an angel investor and in her role at UKBAA she focuses on building the angel community around the UK, connecting investors to good deal flow and assisting entrepreneurs to attract investors. Jenny sits on the steering group for emerging technologies and innovations for Innovate UK and the advisory board for the London Co-Investment Fund. Jenny is an experienced speaker on angel investing and entrepreneurship both in the UK and internationally. She has an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Jenny was awarded an OBE in 2015 for services to small businesses.

Vasu Briquez

Vasu Briquez, Senior Advisor, EBN - European Business & Innovation Centres Network

Vasu Briquez is an international senior executive, with 35 years of experience in the Software & IT industry in Innovation, Business Development, Strategy and Partnerships, gained from a career at 3 of the world's leading IT multinationals: ORACLE, AT&T and HP/Digital Equipment Corp. Vasu is currently collaborating with EBN developing a new Open Innovation initiative, to enable Startups/SMEs in the EU|BICs to enter into novel partnerships with leading IT and other Corporates, and help accelerate the Startups' business growth and commercial success in Europe. Vasu has knowledge and experience in many Information Technologies, Applications and Solution domains, including latest areas like Big data/Analytics, Cloud, SaaS/PaaS/IaaS, Mobile solutions, Internet of Things, In-memory, Real-time computing and more.

Brian Weakliam

Brian Weakliam, CEO & Founder, Bankhawk Analytics

Brian Weakliam, CEO of Bankhawk Analytics, is an experienced financial analyst from the banking sector. He founded Bankhawk Analytics in 2007 with a strong software development team led by two computer science PhDs, Dr. Joe Weakliam (Brian’s brother) and Dr. Xin Zuo. They developed a powerful banking analytics solution. Under Brian’s leadership, Bankhawk has developed a ground-breaking analytics offering for the corporate sector. From 1996 – 2006, as Managing Partner of Banking Solutions, Brian managed many major banking consulting and implementation projects in the corporate sector. He served as a Financial Analyst at the AIB Group from 1989-96. The experience he gained from both roles was the inspiration for Bankhawk Analytics.

John Tripier

John Tripier, VP Business Development and Strategy, Quantiply

John has accelerated company growth by executing global business development and channel strategies with enterprise software companies ranging from early-stage start-ups to Global 1000, including ILOG (acquired by IBM) and Nortel. While at Xerox PARC, John managed the market strategy team in charge of designing and executing go-to-market strategies for a portfolio of 80 leading-edge technologies. At Databricks, the team that created Apache Spark, John was Senior Director of Business Development reporting to the CEO, during the growth from 15 to 200 employees, and was overseeing all business development activities, including strategic partnership agreements with cloud vendors, hardware manufacturers, software vendors and SI.
At Quantiply, John manages all Business Development, channel and SI alliances, and strategic initiatives.

Priya Guha

Priya Guha, Head of Ecosystem at Rocketspace UK

Priya was a UK diplomat for 20 years with her most recent post being British Consul General to San Francisco, where she was Britain’s first female appointee before being appointed as Ecosystem General Manager at RocketSpace UK. As Consul General, among many other things, she was responsible for hosting numerous British delegations of start-ups, corporates, investors and government officials to the Bay Area and interacting with their counterparts in the U.S. She has an exceptional global network and passion for the UK tech community.
Priya studied at Christ’s College, Cambridge, and joined the Foreign Office in 1996. Prior to San Francisco, she spent four years at the British High Commission in India, where she was First Secretary for Political and Bilateral Affairs (2007–11), leading on Indian politics and the UK-India bilateral relationship.

Roderick Beer

Roderick Beer, Strategic Relations Director, UK Business Angels Association

15 years managing, founding and growing angel groups and investment platforms that have deployed over £100m of equity investment in more than 500 startup and scaleup businesses. He now oversees connectivity, training and best practice support for over 170 angel groups, VCs, investment platforms, accelerators, universities, government agencies and corporates.

Gary Parnell

Gary Parnell, Startup Engagement Lead, SAP Startup Focus Program

Gary Parnell is the Startup Engagement Lead, Startup Focus Program @ SAP. He is responsible for enabling startups building (Big) Data, Intelligence, Predictive & Real Time products bring their innovation to SAP’s Enterprise customers. In a career spanning almost twenty years in the IT sector, his experiences have had him create, transform and manage Enterprise and consumer-focused organizations at the intersection of Design, Data &Technology. He has a Bachelor of Economics Degree from the University of Costal Carolina USA and is an avid reader, enjoys the outdoors, Surfing – golf and Biking.

Luisa Silva

Luisa Silva, Global Director Market Enablement & GTM, SAP Startup Focus Program

Luisa Silva is a computer science engineer, manager and startup mentor, with a passion for technology and innovation. Integrating the forefront of SAP’s Startup Focus program leadership, she is regular speaker at conferences, conventions and Entrepreneurship events. Luisa is a seasoned business strategist, an accomplished practice and team leader with over 20 years in IT of which 18 years of software industry innovation, business development, services, sales and management in Big Data, Analytics and in-memory computing. Since 2013, Luisa leads GTM at Startup Focus, SAP’s global accelerator for technology startups. In her role, she defines and coordinates GTM strategies for program Top startups globally, while mentoring, accelerating and recommending investment on next generation startup offerings based on market potential and SAP transformational technology usage. Some success stories examples from her work are: Celonis, Semantic Visions, Meteo Protect, among others successful startups.

Martin Prendergast

Martin Prendergast, COO nDreams & Director at Founder Institute

Martin is an accomplished technology executive with extensive experience across Europe & North America. He founded the SaaS business Concorde and led the company for a decade as CEO. Martin took the company through four investment rounds with US & Uk investors before selling Concorde to Ivanti (formally Landesk). Concorde's achievements during his leadership were recognised with awards from Microsoft as Partner of the Year, as a Gartner Cool Vendor and as winner of the UK Cloud Industry Awards.
