Event description

Description

Come join Sensing Nature’s Senior Ecologist Brian Lane to learn about some of Florida’s most intriguing wildlife…coastal fishes, the estuary-tolerant American alligator, and coastal American crocodile. Find out how some fish survive both freshwater and saltwater. Also, why do mullet jump? How can tarpon breathe both air and water? Also, tease away myths from reality such as do alligators really get up to 20 feet long, and are there crocodiles living in Tampa Bay?

This is an indoor program followed by outdoor boardwalk hike. Intended for families with youths 8 years old and up. Please wear a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and comfortable closed-toe walking shoes. Bring water in a reusable container.

For more information please contact Weedon Island Preserve Cultural and Natural History Center at (727) 453-6500.

UF/IFAS Extension is an equal opportunity institution.
