Experience the Finger Lakes and DestinationFLX partner with renowned New York City chef Scott Riesenberger to bring you this exclusive "reception-style" paired wine and food tasting event.

Taste some of the best Finger Lakes wines in the gorgeous "great room" at the historic Rochester Academy of Medicine on East Avenue. This five-course appetizer pairing event kicks off at 3:00 pm with a welcome glass of sparkling wine and snacks for exploring. Attendees will then be welcomed by Laura (Experience the Finger Lakes), Scott (chef) and Michael (DestinationFLX), and get a description of the event, wines and food.

The event then kicks into full swing with five passed wine and hors d'oeuvres highlighting exceptional Finger Lakes wines and fresh seasonal food ingredients. The event concludes at 5pm. The menu includes:

Pre-Sampling Snacks

  • Smoked Trout Rillettes: horseradish creme, apple, purple mustard
  • Squash Croquettes: brown butter powder, black garlic aioli

Pairing Menu

  • Avocado Toast: roasted feta, red pepper, mint & arugula / Bellangelo 2014 Brut
  • Potato Royale: black truffle, smoked milk / Hosmer 2016 Pinot Noir
  • Pumpkin Soup: bacon, red miso, persimmon / Osmote 2017 Seneca Lake Chardonnay

About the Chef and Sommelier

Scott Riesenberger is a dynamic Executive Chef with more than 18 years of proven expertise in managing all culinary operations for various high-end fine dining restaurants nationally and abroad. Chef learned to cook at Le Cordon Bleu and worked for some of New York and France's top chefs. Scott now calls the Finger Lakes his own, and specializes in creating season-contemporary cuisine from locally-sourced bounty of the region. And he recently launched a new innovative "farm-to-drive-thru" restaurant in Rochester called Sisu Eats.

Laura Winter Falk, president and co-owner of Ithaca-based Experience!The Finger Lakes, was certified in 2016 by the Court of Master Sommeliers after taking classes and passing the level 2 Certified Sommelier Examination. Winter Falk holds a doctorate in nutrition education from Cornell University. She prefers to show off Finger Lakes wines and other artisanally-crafted beverages within the context of its place in the world during events and tours. She seeks to enrich people’s eating and drinking experiences through sharing of knowledge about wine and food within the context of exceptional service.
