Finding Your Voice as a Mormon Woman: A Day-Long Workshop with Dr. Julie Ha...
Wed, July 26, 2017, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM MDT
Mormon culture and family traditions centered on male authority have unintentionally silence women's voices. How can we cultivate our own authentic and assertive voices in a culture that often prescribes rigid gender roles, and has been slow to amplify women's stories and perspectives?
In this interactive discussion-based workshop participants will identify and explore Mormon cultural and family messaging that has served to silence women's authentic voices. Throughout the day we will learn, discuss, and practice 5 skills of assertiveness from Dr. Hanks' book The Assertiveness Guide for Women: How to communicate your needs, set healthy boundaries, and transform your relationships. Workshop will consist of lecture, discussion groups, worksheets, and more.
Lunch will be from noon-1:30 PM (on your own)
EARLY-BIRD pricing - Save $50 when you register by June 1, 2017
*Please note that while all women are welcome, this workshop is geared toward women who want to stay meaningfully engaged with the LDS Church
