Finding Your Joy: A Writing Workshop for WOC

About this Event
The “Finding Your Joy” Writing Workshop is a 2-part generative writing experience for WOC writers of all levels. Participants will:
* Learn about and explore non-traditional forms of writing to excavate their experiences and (re)discover their joy;
* Aquire three new to tools to support their creative practice in any setting;
* Generate at least one new work.
At the end of the workshop, participants will understand how to use their experiences from the workshop to support their own authentic, unapologetic joy-filled life.
This workshop is limited to the first 12 registrants.

About Workshop Host:
.chisaraokwu. (Chisara / Chi) is an American Igbo poet, artist & healthcare futurist. Her essays and poetry have appeared in Glass, Medium, Midnight&Indigo, Obsidian: Literature & Arts in the African Diaspora and many others. Her first book of poetry, The Evolution of a Saint (Words Build Dreams Press) was published in 2014. She has been twice-nominated for Sundress Publication’s Best of Net in Poetry (2019, 2020) and was named a Cave Canem Fellow in 2020. She has done writing residencies in DC and in Italy and enjoys conversing in her three loved languages: English, Igbo and Italian. She served as a senior advisor for healthcare reform during the Obama Administration and is a retired pediatrician.
