One-day LGBTQ and Gender Non-conforming Buddhist meditation retreat

Finding Peace in the Challenges Life Brings

Saturday June 29, 2019

led by Arinna Weisman, in Cambridge, MA

Presented by OutBreath -- Greater Boston's LGBTQ Sangha

If you've ever thought about trying meditation--or if you're an experienced meditator, please join us for a one-day GLBTQ meditation retreat on Saturday, June 29, 2019, in Cambridge.

This retreat offers us a special opportunity to come together as community and as Sangha to find peace in the challenges life brings. Together we will cultivate wisdom, loving-kindness, patience, mindfulness, and equanimity while recognizing the human conditions that we face. Practicing meditation strengthens our intention to embrace whatever is present and to enhance the evolution of our insights.

The retreat is led by Arinna Weisman. Arinna is a renowned teacher in the Vipassana/Theravada tradition of Buddhism who has been teaching throughout the U.S. and Europe since 1989. Originally from South Africa, she was one of the first resident teachers at Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA, and founded the Insight Meditation Center of Pioneer Valley in Western Mass and is currently the guiding teacher at Dhamma Dena Meditation Center in Joshua Tree. She is co-author of a superb book called "The Beginners Guide to Insight Meditation." She is also a queer feminist lesbian!

There will be periods of silence with instructions for both sitting and walking meditation, time to share questions, and a Dharma talk.

The retreat is 10 am - 4:30 pm on Saturday, June 29, 2019 in Cambridge at the Friends Meeting House near Harvard Square. Directions will be sent after your registration is received.

The cost of the retreat is $40.00, which covers the room, out-of-pocket costs, tea, water & munchies. You should bring your own bag lunch; a fridge is available.

In addition, there will be an opportunity for 'dana.' Dana is an ancient Buddhist tradition in which you can choose to make an additional contribution to support Arinna's teaching. (There is no obligation.) Please contact Rachel at: raecarlson@gmail.com for further information.
