Event description

Description

Finding Fela tells the story of Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s life, his music, his social and political importance. He created a new musical movement, Afrobeat, using that forum to express his revolutionary political opinions against the dictatorial Nigerian government of the 1970s and 1980s. Finding Fela was directed by the Academy Award winning director, Alex Gibney and will be screened on May 13th by the Terrence Higgins Trust for the first time in Redbridge. This will be followed by a short discussion on the HIV initiatives taking place in Sub-Saharan Africa and our work here in Redbridge.

Free hot food will be served and rapid HIV tests will also be available on the day.

Registration for this free event is recommended as seats are limited. Please note that the film will start at 3pm. For more information about this event or to register please contact Jennifer Ogundemuren on 020 7046 6072 or via email at Jennifer.Ogundemuren@tht.org.uk.

All roads lead to the Redbridge Central Library on May 13th so don't forget to tell a friend!

We look forward to seeing you there.
