Stephanie Chavez is a nationally recognized marketing executive and speaker who is equally passionate about growing businesses and mentoring others. When she isn’t leading marketing initiatives at her “day job,” Stephanie shares her sales and marketing expertise through affiliations with numerous professional and collegiate organizations. She is an esteemed member of the Forbes Communication Council, Board Member of the SMU Digital Accelerator and Director of Events for the American Marketing Association-DFW Special Interest Groups, serves on the Advisory Board for The Dallas Dream Team, and was recently named one of Cynopsis Top Women in Media for 2019. In addition, Stephanie loves sharing her insights on marketing with students at Texas Woman’s University, where she speaks twice a year, and she is currently wrapping up rigorous studies to become a Certified Trade Show Marketer (CTSM).

As Marketing Director at The Trade Group, she built an internal marketing department from the ground up and grew an inbound sales engine from zero to a multi-million dollar revenue generator, in just two short years. An expert in gaming and esports events, Stephanie was responsible for launching OP Live Dallas, a premier esports event that she orchestrated from soup to nuts.   1. Be relevant. Don't solve fake problems. How high was the demand for the ipod when it was invented? You can sell anything you can market, right?? Of course you can. What will be the longevity of your brand when the people realize you’re selling Aggie Toothpicks?

  2. Have ownership, take responsibility early on to do all of the hard aspects of the job yourself. Do your own sales, do your own development, do your own product creation, do your own marketing research, and you will find that you have a much stronger base and a much stronger foundation from which to operate.

  3. Activate Authority. As you begin to delegate authority, equip and empower people to run your business the way you've envisioned it, and using the trial and error that you've already worked out. Dave Ramsey is another example of the same thing.

  4. Be a responsible capitalist. Finally, if you exhibit the responsible nature of acknowledging “what I do impacts those around me.” Ask yourself what kind of investment will I make in society at large in our culture going forward, generation or two, generation or 10 from now, will they look at what I've done and say, "Wow, we couldn't have done it without you?”

People today still use the oil filter wrench when they take out oil filters off. Whether they're changing at home or they're changing them at the shop. It's a powerful tool. It does what it's made to do. It doesn't do anything else. It's kind of useless for mixing eggs, just is. It's a powerful tool for what it does. It doesn't hurt anybody, and it doesn't cost anybody else any money. It just does what it's made to do.

    • Invest in the "culture".

    • Does your vision align with your business "culture"?

    • We live in a culture. It defines who we are, what we value, and what are boundaries are.

    • Culture is who you really are, not who you say you are.

    • Vision takes time
      It can't be rushed or forced - be patient.
      It is always slower than we want - but it is what will sustain us over the long haul.
