The singer and guitarist demonstrates her distinctive love of experimentation by mixing southern American rhythms with Pop and Rock. This is a WSLR show NOT TO BE MISSED and then THE FOLLOWING DAY...

JOIN HER WILDLY EXPERIMENTAL WORKSHOP!!!!!!

An amazing opportunity to get up close and personal with Internationally renowned Brazilian artist Badi Assad! Target Audience: Singers, instrumentalists (all strings, piano, wind, percussion...), dancers, artists, AND anyone with a basic sense of rhythm and a desire to bust open the doorway to your creative freedom.

In her workshop, Badi shares different ways of listening and feeling music. In a circle the participants learn different possibilities of how to use their voices and bodies, exploring several rhythms to create improvised compositions full of life.

Badi's exercises inspire free styles in a group interaction.
The goal is to broaden the musical horizons where music can be presented at all times, in a very playful and accessible way. A door opens to the improvisation and the participants experience creative freedom.

Methodology: Badi shares new ideas on how to expand the capacity of the human voice and use bodies as a musical instrument. The games, proposed for duets and groups, are presented and created as a result of spontaneous, individual and collective research. As a result, the compositions appear spontaneously as the development of various improvisations expand. The group is inspired to keep their minds open to endless possibilities, broadening their musical horizons.

Badi is one of the rare artists who mix different influences in her work. Very young she learned that it was possible to play more than one instrument at the same time, so as to produce more than one sound simultaneously with her voice. Due to years of research in music, with a focus in ethnic music especially, Badi has synthesized her techniques from Brazilian instrumental, to world music, the music of the Pygmies, Indians, hip-hop (beatbox), Brazilian popular music, and jazz, to name a few.

NOTE: Musicians can bring their own instruments to explore.
Number of students: Minimum of 10 people...
Length: 2 to 3 hours
