Description

The Resilient by Design | Bay Area Challenge brought together landscape architects, engineers, financing experts, community leaders, elected officials and more to identify the areas of the San Francisco Bay shoreline most vulnerable to the effects of rising sea level caused by climate change. Teams created many inspiring design concepts to mitigate those challenges and make our Bay shoreline more resilient. Now the big question remains - how do we get these projects started? This workshop will provide more detailed information about possible funding opportunities for local governments and community stakeholders to move projects forward to create on-the-ground impact. At this workshop you will get a chance to talk to experts in public and private funding sources for resilient infrastructure, to learn more about what funding may be available, and receive information about how to put together a possible funding strategy.

AGENDA

9:00 AM | Welcome and Introductions from Larry Goldzband, Executive Director of Bay Conservation and Development Commission

9:15 AM | Presentation from Resilient by Design Finance AdvisorsSmall group roundtable discussions with funders

9:30 AM - 11:30 AM | Small group "speed-dating" style conversations. Each RBD project group will meet with funding experts and to learn more about how their project can apply for funding. If you are not part of a project team you are welcome to join any of the groups.

11:30 AM | Adjourn

GOAL: To provide information to stakeholders and interested parties about funding opportunities that could be accessed to move the RbD projects and other resilience work forward.

FORMAT: This will be another Resilient by Design, “speed dating”/ round robin-style event. Each Project Team will spend 20 minutes with each table then rotate to the next one. Please note that not every group will be able to talk to each finance expert, but we will arrange it so that you hopefully get to talk to all finance experts that are relevant for your project. If you are not a stakeholder or design team member, you can pick and chose which projects to sit in and learn about.
