About our Speakers

Ben Koch, Managing Director, Investment Banking, BoA Merrill Lynch

Ben Koch is a Managing Director within the Investment Banking practice of Bank of America Merrill Lynch, having recently joined the firm from JP Morgan. Based in Dallas, he is responsible for covering middle market companies across select industries. Ben has extensive corporate finance and investment banking experience spanning a 19-year career comprising over $100 billion of M&A and financing transactions in sectors such as Technology, Consumer and Industrial. He has advised on numerous M&A assignments, including sell-side and buy-side transactions, joint ventures, leveraged buyouts as well as executed numerous debt and equity financings including several IPOs, convertible debt, follow-on equity and bond offerings.

Ben began his investment banking career in 1999 at Salomon Smith Barney / Citigroup where he spent 9 years covering clients from offices in New York, Palo Alto and Dallas. Ben received his M.B.A. from NYU’s Stern School of Business and his B.B.A. from Southern Methodist University. He resides in Dallas with his wife and their two boys.

Lynn Nazareth, CFO RES Group

RES is the nation’s largest ecological restoration and water resource solutions company and is a high-growth portfolio company with the private-equity firm, KKR. Ms. Nazareth joined RES in 2017 as Chief Financial Officer where she leads the Accounting, Finance, IT, Financial Compliance, and Real Estate activities for the company. Lynn came to RES from KBR, a publicly traded global provider of professional services and technologies to the Government Services and Hydrocarbons industries. At KBR, she managed various functions including Investor Relations, Global Financial Planning and Analysis, and was a divisional CFO and Controller.

Prior to KBR, Lynn was in leadership FP&A roles with Dresser, Inc. and McDermott International as well as financial advisory and consulting roles in corporate restructuring and M&A with Ernst & Young Corporate Finance, Enron and Sterling Consulting Group, a division of Navigant Consulting. Lynn graduated with an MBA in Finance from the Jones School of Business at Rice University and a BBA in Accounting from The University of Texas at Austin.

James Mertz, Managing Director and Founder, Mertz Energy

James Mertz is the Managing Director and founder of Mertz Energy, a $50M company focused on profitably extracting oil and gas reserves along the Louisiana and Texas Gulf Coasts and Townsend Mertz, a real estate investment fund. Prior to forming Mertz Energy, James was a Business Development Manager for Amphenol, where he co-lead all oil and gas business. Current and former Board Director/Observer roles: HiCor Technologies Inc., Neurodyn Inc., Resonant Fund I L.P., Chairman of the Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists - Houston Chapter. James received his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and received his MBA with High Distinction from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business and University of Navarra IESE Business School. While at Michigan, James studied in Bulgaria through the Fulbright Program and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma.

Espen Strom, Investment Director, EV Private Equity

Espen Strøm has worked for EV Private Equity (former Energy Ventures) for more than 10 years. In his tenure with the firm he has great experience from investing into early stage technology companies, developing and commercializing new products, and building strong teams. Espen has served on the board for several oil and gas service companies, and is currently a board director for Hicor Technologies Inc and Ashmin Holding LLC.

Abhijeet Inamdar, Investment Manager, Equinor Technology Ventures

Abhijeet has 15 years of hands on experience in evaluating and developing US Onshore assets (Eagle Ford, Marcellus, Bakken, etc). In his previous role as a Reservoir Engineering Manager for US Onshore he led a team of Engineers that was responsible for optimizing well performance and implementing pilots. He has hands on experience in optimizing well spacing and completions. In his E&P career he has evaluated many acquisition and divestment opportunities. He was also responsible for SEC reporting, project economics, type curve inputs for short term and long-term business plans.

Since 2016, Abhijeet has been playing a leading role in analyzing and executing Equnior Technology Ventures investments in the US, with a focus Shale Oil and Gas Technology opportunities. He serves on the board for Reveal Energy Services, Seekops, Hicor Technologies and Ambyint. Prior to Statoil Abhijeet worked at SM Energy and Schlumberger. He graduated from University of Alaska, Fairbanks with MS in Petroleum Engineering in 2004. In his spare time, he loves to travel and play poker.

All current CFO Leadership Council members may attend this program for free. Non-member senior financial executives who are CFOs, Vice Presidents of Finance, Directors of Finance and Controllers (or the like) are welcome to attend this program for $60.
