Hope is not a plan to prevent Financial Exploitation

One in five older adults (65+) are victims of Financial Exploitation costing these vulnerable individuals annually: $28 million in Virginia and $3 Billion nationally. Also surprising that only 1 in 44 case of financial elder abuse is ever reported. Recent research has found that elder financial exploitation is fast growing, widespread, expensive and even deadly.

Williamsburg Area Faith in Action will host a free “community dialog” to provide awareness, education and resources to help prevent Financial Exploitation of older adults.

A panel of local experts in the fields of: Law Enforcement, Legal, Finance and Medical will provide education and resources to reduce the risk of Financial Exploitation.

Attendees will receive education and awareness about Financial Exploitation, learn ways to reduce their risk of expliotation, and establish relationships and protocols of where to turn if they become a victim of financial exploitation.

This program is free but requires a reservation due to limited seating.
