Mr. Nkusi is a logistics and freight forwarding professional with a unique insight into how to best leverage resources in countries with complex customs and transport infrastructure especially in Africa. He has experience in several Countries in Africa and Asia including Hong Kong, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, DRC, Sudan etc

We will also have Uganda Telecom presenting on Mobile Commerce Solutions for SMEs.

Introduction


Currently, the youth and young people constitute about 78% of Uganda’s population. Uganda is an agrarian economy employing 73% of the labour force, contributing 23.9% to the GDP and accounts for more than 48% of the exports. The youth unemployment rate stands at 83% (World Bank report, 2008), the second highest after Niger in the world. In addition, focus on youth in Agribusiness fits well within the mission and aims of Agri-ProFocus Uganda. Therefore,Agri-ProFocus Uganda together with her partners agreed to come together to Identify possible areas of collaboration and joint action on motivating youth into agribusiness.

 

Objectives 

  • To motivate members/partners into a joint action on youth in agribusiness
  • To determine the area of focus and determine specific activities to be undertaken by the consortium members under youth in 2014.
  • to motivate youth into becoming agribusiness entrepreneurs

Activities 2014

  • Form an Innovation community on Youth in Agribusiness (YIA)
  • Conduct a situation analysis to help the various actors create a common understanding of the context of youth in agribusiness– including the social, economic, political, and institutional systems that affect youth in agribusiness. 
  • Conduct 3 Youth in Agribusiness Regional Inspirational Conferences (YARIC)
