Following Walter Benjamin's description of a storyteller and the vanishing oral form of storytelling as outlined in his 1936 essay, this film explores the storyteller of today. The selected protagonists are architects Peter Eisenman and Nikolaus Hirsch; artists Özge Açikkol, Seçil Yersel, Simon Starling, Nikolay Polisski, and Fakir Lalu Baba; activist Ali Shamsher; and walrus hunter Boris Girgiroskyn. Their efforts show that behind each work stands a personal experience which has absorbed in turn the experiences of many. Today’s storyteller, be it an artist or an architect, has the opportunity to share the experience without words, making visible and tangible to us that which remains inexistent for the media and commerce.
