Event description

Description

An order of Trappist monks live among the Muslim population in a quiet corner of Algeria. As the country is plunged into civil war in the mid-1990s, the men of God must decide whether to stay among the impoverished residents who have been their neighbors, or flee the encroaching fundamentalists who terrorise local populations and who upset the local age-old balance of Christian and Muslim relations.

The situation that unfolds, based on actual events, has consequences that are tragic and which show how the civil war and the ensuing extremism that developed because of the outrages conducting by all sides, sucked in peaceful communities who co-existed with each other.

'Of Gods and Men' is an example of how extremism destroys all in its wake - Muslim, Christian, men and women and those of faith whose mission it is to help others.
