Event description

Description

WEA Yorkshire and Humber are organising a number of film screenings and discussions through the year to celebrate diversity. Our informal events offer a social space to encourage us all to think creatively about equality, diversity and inclusion in our daily lives and in learning environments.

Everybody is welcome: our events are intended for students, volunteers, tutors, staff and partners. Please spread the word and book your place!

Sugar Cane Alley: The true story of a boy growing up in the sugar plantations and gaining an education in Martinique in the 1920s. Based on the novel La Rue Cases-Nègres by Joseph Zobel, the film will be introduced by the writer’s granddaughter, Dr Emily Zobel Marshall (Leeds Beckett University).
