Film Screening & Panel Discussion: Prison Kids
Event Information
Description

You are invited to a special screening and panel discussion of the investigative documentary "Prison Kids: A Crime against America's Children" hosted by Voices for Children in Nebraska, Nebraska Youth Advocates, and the Juvenile Law section of the Nebraska State Bar Association.
Our juvenile justice system is broken. The facts show it:
- Of all developed nations, the US is #1 in incarcerating children
- It's estimated that over 70% of the kids we lock up suffer from mental health disorders
What's worse is we put kids into solitary confinement — even though evidence shows this results in profound neurological and psychological damage.
Help put a stop to this now.
Doors open and concessions will be available starting at 5:30 p.m.
Film begins at 5:45 p.m.
A discussion panel will convene after the film with opportunity for Q&A, featuring:
- Nebraska State Senator Patty Pansing Brooks, Legislative District 28
- Amy Miller, Legal Director of the ACLU of Nebraska
- Two youth representatives
