Event description
An exclusive, pre-public release screening benefitting the Orange County Women's Health Project

About this Event

Join the Orange County Women's Health Project for an exclusive, pre-public release screening of The Great American Lie, the third documentary film from Jennifer Siebel Newsom and The Representation Project.

Following the screening, Dr. Caroline Heldman will discuss the intersection of social and economic inequity and women's health. Dr. Heldman is a contributor in the film, Executive Director of The Representation Project, and a Professor of Politics at Occidental College in Los Angeles with a research focus in media, the presidency, and systems of power (gender, race, class). Dr. Heldman has been a professional pollster, campaign manager, and political commentator for CNN, MSNBC, and FOX News.

About the Film

The Great American Lie is a film that examines what inequality looks like today and traces its roots to our long-revered promise of the American Dream. The film looks at what Americans are told - through all aspects of our culture - about who and what is valued, based on how we “gender” people and things.

From Jennifer Siebel Newsom, Emmy Award-winning filmmaker and First Partner of California, this documentary film is the third in a series that illuminates and challenges the limiting gender narratives in American society. Read more about the film here.
