Learn more about the media production industries of Texas, how to get your community Film Friendly certified and how to take your community's Film Friendly status to the next level.
The fee for attending this one-day workshop is only $79.00 (per person).
The workshop is open to anyone interested in learning more about the Texas Film Commission's Film Friendly Texas program, although the target audience for this workshop will be community representatives affiliated with local government organizations who will serve as the community’s point-of-contact for facilitating media production requests. Most communities will choose a member of their city or county government, Convention and Visitors Bureau, Chamber of Commerce or Economic Development Corporation to attend. Multiple representatives from your community are welcome.
This workshop will provide presentations from Texas Film Commission staff and discussions with media industry professionals addressing topics such as:
• Film Friendly Certification and Media production as an Economic Development opportunity for your community.
• What to expect when working with different types of media productions
• How to create filming guidelines and permit systems for your community.
• How to facilitate and expedite production requests.
• How filming locations are chosen.
• How to take and submit photos of potential filming locations in your community.
• Understanding location agreements, production insurance and other documents.
• Film tourism opportunities for your community.
Registration closes on March 30, 2023. Included in cost to attend is a reception at Claraboya Scratch Kitchen at the Doubletree which will occur Monday April 3 at 5:30pm. A light breakfast at LHUCA and lunch at RaveOn in the Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences are also included in the cost to attend. LHUCA will open at 8:00 AM for check-in. Workshop sessions will begin at 9:00 AM and conclude by 4:00 PM, with a break for lunch and networking with guest panelists and Texas Film Commission Staff.
