Description

Join the ranks of the 120+ Texas communities participating in the Film Friendly Texas program! Learn more about the media production industries of Texas - learn how to get your community Film Friendly certified and learn how to take your community's Film Friendly status to the next level by attending the Film Friendly Texas Workshop being held on Friday, November 16, 2018 in Denton, TX. Sign up today - online registration is now open!

The Texas Film Commission's Film Friendly Texas program provides ongoing training and guidance regarding media industry standards, best practices and how to effectively accommodate on-location filming activity in their community.

Certification in the Film Friendly Texas program provides production companies with increased assurance that communities are industry-savvy and sends a clear message to media industry professionals that communities are serious about attracting their business.

The fee for attending this one day workshop is $99 (per person) and this is the only fee for participation in the Film Friendly Texas program. The target audience for this workshop will be community representatives who will then go on to serve as the community’s point-of-contact for facilitating film requests. Multiple representatives from your community are welcome and encouraged to attend. This workshop will provide panel discussions with industry professionals addressing topics such as:

  • An overview of the Texas media production industries
  • Film as an Economic & Community Development opportunity for your community
  • What to expect when working with different types of media productions
  • How to create effective filming guidelines and permit systems for your community
  • How to facilitate and expedite filming inquiries
  • Use of public property for filming locations
  • How filming locations are chosen
  • How to take and submit photos of potential filming locations in your community
  • Understanding location agreements, production insurance and other documents
  • Film festivals, film screenings and film tourism opportunities for your community
  • Next Steps: My community’s Film Friendly Certified, Now What?
  • Case Studies: Film Friendly Certified Community Highlights

Registration is limited to 50 attendees and a light continental breakfast and lunch are included in the cost of attendance.

Registration and breakfast will begin at 8:30 AM and when the workshop wraps up at 4:00 PM, all workshop attendees are invited to attend an optional, informal mixer afterward across the street at Denton's Harvest House coffee shop and beer garden.

We have a group room block and reduced lodging rate of $94 (per room, per night) at the nearby SpringHill Suites Denton for the nights of Thursday, November 15 and Friday, November 16, which is available to all Film Friendly Texas workshop attendees. Deadline to book at this rate is October 19, 2018. To book your group rate for Texas Film Friendly, see the following link: https://bit.ly/2QF49rJ
